Understand Your Fire Risks
What is a fire risk assessment?
A fire risk assessment is a structured examination of your premises to identify fire hazards, the people who may be at risk, the fire precautions already in place, and what improvements may be needed to reduce risk.
It looks at how your building is actually used, day to day, and considers the people who spend time in it — employees, residents, customers or visitors. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Responsible Person for a premises must ensure a suitable and sufficient assessment is carried out, recorded where required, and reviewed regularly or when circumstances change.
